If it weren't for my family, you would see me often on TV nowaday, but I gave up my dream of being a Hollywood sweetheart and moved home to take care of needy family members.

I think that it all depends on your family circumstances. If your family is well to do and they can take care of themselves than your career should come first. If your family really need your help, than they should come first. Even if your career is something as rare as being a Hollywood sweetheart. Yes! I have gave up that dream because my parents and little siblings needed me. I feel happy with my family but also unfortunate that I can't pursue my dream. If my family were well to do people, my Hollywood dream would undoubtedly come first.

This question will only depends on your family circumstances and how far you are living from your family. I was very unfortunate to not even live in the same state with my family, if I was living in the same state with my family, my career doesn't have to choose.
